Jvck James, Rated R&B’s Front + Center artist, has finished his nearly two-year Detour and has released his new EP, Joyride.
On a pleasure trip for 17 minutes long, the emerging star globe-trots to different progressive soundscapes to showcase his in-demand artistry.
The opening track, “What You Want,” contains computerized melodies, highlighting his sense of innocence to the intimate, undemanding advances of his partner.
James’ pull-up game is strong on “Basement,” an instantly memorable banger that will blow more than your mind.
He and his woman set their phones on airplane mode and go under the radar for the across the map “Getaway,” while he puts one in the air on the redundantly-soulful closer “…Roll It.”
Joyride includes his hip-hop soul-infused track “No Drama.” It arrived with a supporting music video.
In speaking to Rated R&B about the project, James explained, “We’re definitely continuing the ride. You can tell that I’m obsessed with cars (laughs) because we have Detour, and we have Joyride. It’s really just about people being on the journey with me, and I appreciate everyone who supported me. We’re in it for the long ride.”
A short companion film is set to debut soon for Joyride.
