Big Sean turns 33 today.
In honor of his birthday, the Detroit rapper gifts fans with the performance video for “Lucky Me / Still I Rise.”
The five-minute clip finds the birthday boy taking it back to basics. Accompanied by Hit-Boy and his band, Sean Don stands in a dimly-lit room while rapping about buying Slash’s crib, public breakups, and being diagnosed with a heart disease at 19.
“Could barely stand on my feet / Doctors said they had to cut it open / Put a pacemaker on it to put it back on beat,” he raps before the beat switches up.
Along with the video, Sean thanked fans for their well wishes. “Lucky Me 4real!! Thank you for all the birthday wishes,” he tweeted.
“Lucky Me / Still I Rise” can be found on Sean’s chart-topping album Detroit 2. Next month, the original Detroit mixtape will be released on all streaming services for the first time.
