Trina is down to do Verzuz with Lil’ Kim, she’s just waiting on the call.
While speaking with DJ Scream on 105.3 The Beat (via The Shade Room), the Diamond Princess gave props to the Queen Bee and explained why she would want to be paired up with her.
“Kim is that bitch. Let’s be very clear,” she said. “When I came into the industry, this is who I looked up to, this is the lyrics I recited. This is what made me know that it’s OK to talk that lethal shit and you ni**as not shit. Therefore I would feel like that’s equivalent ’cause Kim is legendary and she got mad records.”
Trina wouldn’t look at it as a battle, but more of a celebration of their careers. “I won’t even feel like a competition ’cause it’s a family thing. I’m probably gonna be so much more engaged in her records than anything ’cause it will go back to when I first heard her, so I’ll be in my vibe like fanned out.”
But despite her interest, she hasn’t heard from Verzuz founders Swizz Beatz or Timbaland. “But nobody reached out, nobody said that,” said Trina.
Back in May, Khia proposed a battle with Trina, who shot down the idea. “I’m not stepping off my throne to address no bum, no chicks that are beneath me, and nobody that has not worked as hard as I’ve worked for anything,” said Trina.
The next Verzuz on April 4 will feature The Isley Brothers and Earth, Wind & Fire, while other upcoming battles including Redman vs. Method Man and SWV vs. Xscape.
