Be careful, Shelley FKA DRAM is in the kitchen, and he’s “Cooking with Grease” on his latest track.
On this sizzling jam, the occasional rapper-turned-singer shuts the burners down to keep his cool with a woman who’s involved him in a love affair to satisfy her sexual needs. Shelley’s slithering sandpaper voice holds up well against the fervor production coated in a soulful batter by Jack Rochon.
“Cooking with Grease” is the third offering from Shelley’s self-titled sophomore album, due out April 16 via EMPIRE / Atlantic Records. In addition to last month’s return single “Exposure,” the 10-song LP will feature his H.E.R. and WATT-assisted track “The Lay Down,” which came out in August 2019.
To support his new album and healthier lifestyle choices, Shelly has shared two episodes of his new YouTube series called Cooking With Grease Show. So far, he has shown audiences how to make lasagna roll-ups and a crunch wrap. Watch episodes one and two now.
Shelley put out Big Baby DRAM, his 2016 debut album under the alias DRAM. Two years later, he issued a three-song capsule titled That’s a Girls Name.
