Saweetie Addresses Elevator Fight with Quavo

Saweetie is breaking her silence.

After video of a physical altercation with former boyfriend Quavo surfaced, the “Best Friend” rapper is addressing the viral elevator clip. In a statement, Saweetie acknowledged that the incident happened a year ago when the couple was still together. Since the fight, they were able to reconcile, but other issues led to their eventual breakup.

“This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on,” said Saweetie, adding, “I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.”

The surveillance footage, which was reportedly captured at Saweetie’s apartment complex, shows the former couple struggling over an orange Call of Duty case. Saweetie appears to take the first swing at Quavo before he grabs her by the arm and drags her to the elevator floor. She remains on the floor until the elevator eventually stops and she limps out.

The LAPD is now investigating the incident and want to interview both Quavo and Saweetie separately to determine what happened before and after the elevator footage was captured. The investigation could lead to a criminal case should the City Attorney decide to press charges.

Last month, Saweetie confirmed that she and Quavo had split, while hinting that he cheated. “I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women,” she tweeted.

Quavo responded, “I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.”
