The wait for Shantel May’s debut project is finally over.
Don’t Let Them See You Cry consists of seven tracks that detail the ins and outs of May’s draining relationship with a deadbeat lover.
Much of the songs remind herself and others to not allow someone to abuse their mental with unhealthy love and relationship tactics.
Three of the tracks from last year are billed to the project, including the moody “Don’t Wanna Pretend,” the hazy “It’s Better This Way,” and the Westside Gunn-assisted track “Until I Say So.” She also includes her 2018 debut track, “Back n Forth.”
This year, May was named one of Rated R&B’s 11 R&B Artists to Watch in 2021.
