Dashboard Confessional’s Unplugged tour will be the first major string of performances for the group since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted last year’s 20th-anniversary outing. More than that, the run follows a major disruption to Dashboard bandleader Chris Carrabba’s life, the result of a motorcycle accident that left him concerned about his future as a performer.

Carrabba spoke to the challenges of the previous year. He also addressed the support he received from the Dashboard Confessional fanbase.

“Nearly a year ago, our 20-year celebration came to a halt when everyone’s lives were changed by Covid,” Carrabba says. “Then, I was in an accident that left me worried that I would never be able to play music again. I received so much kindness from people I know and people I don’t know. The kindness that I received from friends, family and total strangers was incredible.”

Over the last 20 years, you have given me so much, and I am just so grateful,” Carrabba continues. “I can’t explain what it felt like to get back in the room with my bandmates and play music again. This year has been hard for everyone and we all are missing each other more than ever. I know we can’t be together until it is safe for everyone to do so, but I miss hearing your voices, and seeing your faces. I’d be so pleased to see you.”

While faced with setbacks, Dashboard Confessional still accomplished a great deal in 2020. The group released their first-ever career retrospective album, The Best Ones Of The Best Ones. They also launched The Early Days series, which revisits some of the group’s most classic moments through limited vinyl releases. The line especially spotlights Chris Carrabba’s iconic early releases, including 2000’s The Swiss Army Romance and 2001’s The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most.

Additionally, Carrabba partnered with the beloved Austin, Texas-based company Mondo to release three EPs. The set revisits 2001’s So Impossible, 2002’s Summers Kiss and a newly created EP Spider-Man 2. Carrabba even found time to team up with Nightowl Canning and winemaker Susy Vasquez to produce Canvino: Bottle-Quality Wine, In A Can.

Despite these successes, the Unplugged tour offers Dashboard Confessional a chance to continue the celebration they began in 2020. Along the way, the group will visit over two dozen U.S. cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Charleston, Phoenix, Boston, Washington, D.C., Nashville, San Francisco, Portland and more.

During the tour, a number of supporting acts will play alongside the group. This Wild Life performs on dates from Sept. 8 through Oct. 2. Into It. Over It. join the tour for dates from Oct. 4 to Oct. 17. Seahaven appears from Oct. 20 to Oct. 31. Additionally, Dashboard member Armon Jay will offer support from Sept. 8 to Oct. 31.
