Pressure can do one of two things – produce diamonds or shatter pipes. The outcomes are on different ends of the spectrum and are what singer/songwriter Joelle James, explores on her new single, “Apply Pressure.”
Most known for writing Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up” and a decorated career writing for the likes of artists such as Tamar Braxton, Justine Skye and JoJo – the critically acclaimed writer is ready to come out from behind the pen and breakout on her own.
“Apply Pressure” showcases Joelle’s uncanny ability to paint a vivid picture of a not-so-perfect relationship, with her soulful voice and sweet melodies. The production and instrumentation includes an interpolation of Mariah Carey’s “Honey” and puts you in that perfect chill feel-good west coast vibe. Her layered vocals along with catchy chorus mesh perfectly and are reminiscent of the signature style that won her a Grammy for “Boo’d Up.”
“Apply Pressure” is just a small taste of her new music and upcoming album set to drop in July.
