Poppy is continuing to prove her genre-bending skills in her latest cover of Jack Off Jill’s iconic song “Fear Of Dying.”
The cover mainly keeps in line with the original song. However, Poppy’s unique voice shines through on her reimagining of the track.

Heavy guitar riffs combine with Poppy’s gritty vocals and occasional screams to make a modern headbanging version of the song.
Poppy has gone everywhere, from the metal stylings of “Concrete” and Grimes collab “Play Destroy,” to the pop-critiquing acoustic track “Pop Music.” With her first new music of the year, “Fear Of Dying” shows that Poppy will always unabashedly experiment with her sound as an artist. That sentiment is reflected in the very song she chose to cover, with lyrics about not being afraid of speaking your mind and try your best.
“I think artists come in all forms, and you are a product of your own influence,” Poppy said in her debut Alternative Press cover with Ghostemane in 2020. “I make it my mission every day to try and learn something or try something new because you’re only here on Earth for a short time, and I just think that it’s important to keep pushing yourself and your boundaries and where you think that you can go and surprising yourself. Otherwise, you get boring. At least for me, I feel really bored. I don’t really look around at other artists and think that it’s disappointing. Everyone has their own path. I can only speak for myself, that I can get very bored if I’m not trying to constantly learn something.

“Fear Of Dying” comes after the singer’s Veeps livestream performance “The Last Disagreement” last month. Ending an era that included her 2020 album I Disagree, the show saw Poppy perform songs such as “Concrete” and FEVER 333 collab “Scary Mask.” In March, she also performed at the Grammys, sharing new and still unreleased song “EAT.”
Additionally, Poppy has also ventured into the world of fashion and fragrance. Earlier this month, she announced her shoe collaboration with KOI Footwear. This week she was also featured in a video analyzing the Flowerbomb fragrance from frequent collaborator Viktor + Rolf.

“Fear Of Dying” lyrics
I’m not afraid of standing still
I’m just afraid of being bored
I’m not afraid of speaking my mind
I’m just afraid of being ignored
I’m not afraid of feeling and I’m not afraid of trying
I’m just afraid of losing and I am afraid of dying
Without you, yes I do and I hope that you do too
Without you, yes I do
Without you, yes I do and I hope that you do too
Without you, yes I
I’m not afraid of being sick
I’m more afraid of being well
I’m not afraid, put the gun in my hand
I’m just afraid it will hurt like, hurt like hell
I’m not afraid of screaming and I’m not afraid of crying
I’m just afraid of forgetting and I am afraid of dying
Without you, yes I do and I hope that you do too
Without you, yes I do
Without you, yes I do and I hope that you do too
Without you, yes I
I’m not afraid of looking ugly
I couldn’t care what they say
I’m not afraid of happy endings
I’m just afraid my life won’t work that way
I’m not afraid of forgiveness
I’ll absolve you everything
I’m not afraid of lying, but I am afraid of dying
Without you, yes I do and I hope that you do too
Without you, yes I do
Without you, all I do is sit and think about you
Without you, yes I
