New Anthrax Retrospective Video Looks Back at Persistence of Time

We’ve come to a really interesting spot in Anthrax’s ongoing Anthrax 40 for 40 retrospective/anniversary video celebration: 1990’s Persistence of Time. Part of the reason it’s such an interesting period in Anthrax’s career is because, well, Persistence of Time fucking rules — but part of it is that this period of the band has a lot more inner turmoil, which, frankly, just makes for good drama (not for nothing was no band’s Behind the Music episode ever “They had a great career and nothing went wrong ever the end”).

When describing the album, the members of Anthrax use the words “dark” and “introspective” a whole lot. Scott Ian had just gotten divorced, and tensions between himself and Joey Belladonna were rising. Of course, this ended up being Belladonna’s last album with the band until Worship Music 21 years later, so, clearly, those tensions only got worse.

Like I said, it’s all pretty interesting! Check it out below.

Anthrax will also play a special career-spanning livestream performance on July 18 (the band’s actual 40th anniversary). Still waiting on additional details for that.
