Swizz Beatz Teases DMX Gospel Album

More music from DMX may be on the way including a gospel album.

Swizz Beatz revealed that there is more unreleased music from the late rap icon aside from what was heard on his posthumous project Exodus.

“We have the material,” Swizz said during an album listening for Exodus. “He’s not here but we do have the vocals and everything like that. This project definitely needs a part two.”

At this time, it’s unclear if there are plans for a reissue of Exodus or an entirely new album, but Swizz did debut an unreleased version of “Bath Salts” featuring J. Cole that didn’t make Exodus during his Verzuz rematch with Timbaland over the weekend.

The Ruff Ryders legend had also recorded “a lot of material” for a gospel project, which Swizz would like to bring to fruition.

“He has a different set of music that’s all gospel too,” said the Verzuz co-creator. “That was like his dream dream dream. We gotta try to make that happen.”

X, who died April 9 at age 50, was outspoken about his faith and often showed it through his music. “That’s where he wanted to end up. He wanted to end up in the spiritual zone with his music,” said Swizz.

DMX’s eighth album Exodus was released Friday featuring collaborations with JAY-Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Usher, and Bono.

Swizz has vowed to keep his friend’s legacy alive. “I couldn’t sleep knowing that he wasn’t at his full potential,” he told The New York Times. “That was a driver for me, because X created a lot of opportunities for a lot of people, myself included.”
