Kid Rock, aka Bob Ritchie, made some waves earlier this week when he called a fan at a Tennessee karaoke event a “fa**ot” for filming Rock with his phone while the singer was performing. Not that this kind of behavior is surprising given Rock’s history of unwavering political correctness but, ya know, waves in the internet sense; people love reading about this shit, and video of the incident hastily made the rounds.
Rock has now dug in on his use of the word, issuing a tweet — cheekily delivered in the third person using his real name — that essentially calls anyone who felt offended a fa**ot as well (although he didn’t bleep out the word), while at the same time expressing support for “his gay friends.”
Here’s the tweet:
“If Kid Rock using the word faggot offends you, good chance you are one. Either way, I know he has a lot of love for his gay friends and I will have a talk with him. Have a nice day. -Bob Ritchie”
In other words: Kid Rock being Kid Rock. It’s not as if we expected our shaming of the recent incident to result in him suddenly becoming a remorseful and empathetic human being, did we?
Carry on. You can watch video of the initial incident below if you missed it the first time.
