The Recording Academy has made changes to its Board of Trustees team, with Rico Love and Om’Mas Keith added to the directory in top positions.
Love, the multi-hyphenate hitmaker behind Grammy-winning work for Beyoncé and Usher, takes the seat as Vice Chair, the right-hand man to newly elected Chair Tammy Hurt. His track record runs far and wide, collaborating with other artists such as Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland, and Trey Songz. He also pushes the needle for discovering new talent through his We Love Music Conference and his label DIMG, which has partnerships with Epic, Hitco and Sony.
Keith accepts the role of Secretary/Treasurer. The Grammy-winning all-around musician has worked behind the boards for a well-diversified group of artists including JAY-Z, John Legend, Erykah Badu, Frank Ocean, and more, to name a few. He also has held different positions within the Academy since 2015.
Christine Albert resumes her position as Chair Emeritus.
“I’m in awe of the amazingly talented group that’s been elected to lead this new era of the Academy and really excited at the possibilities as I start this journey with Tammy, Rico, Om’Mas, and Christine. I know this group is going to do great work as we continue to transform the Academy and support the music community,” shared the Academy’s new chairman Harvey Mason Jr. in a statement.
He continued, “I know this group is going to do great work as we continue to transform the Academy and support the music community.”
In this year’s news, Love teamed up with Chris Bosh for “Different Kind of Beautiful.” Prior to that, he dropped an album called Rico Love Presents: Emerging Woman in R&B. We spotlighted his songwriting and production work on Fantasia’s Back to Me album last year for the 10th anniversary.
