Angélique Kidjo’s last two records nodded to to Celia Cruz and Talking Heads, but with Mother Nature, she celebrates pan-African pride with energetic songs that draw on a wide range of contemporary and traditional African styles. She’s joined by a number of guests on the project, including Burna Boy, Sampa the Great, Yemi Alade, and Mr Eazi.

Mykki Blanco: Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep [Transgressive]

Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep is a new nine-song mini-album from rapper and singer Mykki Blanco, and their first release since 2016’s Mykki. Guests and contributors on the mini-album include Blood Orange, Jamila Woods, Big Freedia, FaltyDL, Hudson Mohawke, and Kari Faux.

Gucci Mane: Ice Daddy [Atlantic]

Gucci Mane is back with Ice Daddy, his first solo full-length since December 2019’s East Atlanta Santa 3. Proudly on the cover of the album is the rapper’s newborn son Ice. Guests on the 17-song Ice Daddy include Lil Uzi Vert, Pooh Sheisty, Lil Baby, 2 Chainz, and E-40.

Amythyst Kiah: Wary + Strange [Rounder]

Wary + Strange is Amythyst Kia’s first album for the long-running folk label Rounder Records, but the singer-songwriter and guitarist stretches out across folk, rhythm and blues, rock, and beyond. Before this record, she’d joined Rhiannon Giddens, Allison Russell, and Leyla McCalla in Our Native Daughters, wherein she earned a Grammy nomination for her song “Black Myself.”

Cola Boyy: Prosthetic Boombox [Record Makers/MGMT]

Prosthetic Boombox is the debut album from Oxnard, California songwriter and producer Cola Boyy. The LP includes appearances from the Avalanches, Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT, John Carroll Kirby, and Nicholas Godin of Air. Prior to releasing his new record, Cola Boyy shared the singles “Kid Born in Space” and “Don’t Forget Your Neighborhood.”
