When Drake dropped “Marvins Room” in 2011, it immediately inspired some R&B artists to record their own rendition. Artists like Chris Brown, JoJo and Teyana Taylor saw viral success with their respective covers. Now, a decade later, Queen Naija shares her cover of the multi-platinum track, in partnership with Amazon Music for Black Music Month.
“This cover of Drake’s ‘Marvins Room’ was dope to do because it was kind of a throwback to the early 2010s, and I love bringing the nostalgic feels. I wanted to do it from a female perspective,” Naija said in a statement.
She added, “I’m also very excited to be a part of Amazon Music’s Black Music Month campaign as it’s really something important to acknowledge and celebrate. Big thanks to Amazon Music also for always supporting my career and music.”
Most recently, Naija teamed up with Jacquees for his new single “Bed Friend.” In April, she released a deluxe edition of her debut album, Missunderstood. It featured six new tracks, including her duet with Ari Lennox, “Set Him Up.”
