Normani is back. The R&B-pop sensation has teamed up with Cardi B for her new single “Wild Side” — and it arrives with an accompanying video, of course.
Over an intoxicating production, which interpolates Aaliyah’s “One in a Million,” Normani sings about her desires to spice things up in the bedroom.
“We can’t just keep talkin’ about it / We think too often about it / We can’t just be cautious about it / I wanna get wild / Take me for a ride, boy / Show me your wild side, boy / Know it’s been a while, boy I wanna get wild,” she coos on the chorus.
The Tanu Muino-directed video finds Normani rocking various stunning looks in different settings. She teamed up with her frequent collaborator Sean Bankhead to develop a high-energy choreographed performance. The diverse movements are further proof that Normani is simply unstoppable and can’t be put in a box.
Speaking on her collaboration with Cardi B, Normani said in a statement, “I had already been in rehearsal for about three weeks preparing for the video when Cardi heard the record for the first time. She really showed up for me and brought this record to life by simply doing what Cardi does best. I love that woman down and I’m forever grateful.”
It’s not Normani and Cardi’s first time being on screen together. Normani made a cameo in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” video, which has been viewed over 407 million times on YouTube.
Normani first teased “Wild Side” on Instagram back in February when she posted a video of her soaking up the sun as a snippet played in the background.
“Wild Side” follows Normani’s 2019 single “Motivation,” which went platinum last year. It’s likely the lead single from the New Orleans native’s highly anticipated debut album. While there aren’t many details available about the album, it could possibly feature contributions from The-Dream. In January, The-Dream tweeted about being in the studio with Normani. “Sh*t sounds fire as f*ck,” he wrote.
