Khalid has put his Free Spirit days behind him and is on to album three, aptly titled Everything Is Changing.
The forthcoming album is set to arrive this fall. Described as his “favorite album” recorded to date, Khalid shared in a statement that the album consists of songs “centering around trying to find a purpose and a sense of self in a world where everything is digitally connect[ed] but emotionally disconnected.”
He continued, “As we all come out of quarantine and venture more into the world and try to reconnect with people we haven’t seen in over a year, I hope the messages explored within the album open up conversations and allow people to access their feelings in a new way.”
A new song, “New Normal,” coincides with the album announcement. Produced by Active Child and John Hill, the hopeful tune is a rumination on adapting to life as we know it now amid the pandemic. As much as we expect our day-to-day to return to form, there’s no such thing anymore.
Khalid brings the message of his new anthem to life in a music video directed by Andy Hines. Find the video below.
This September, Khalid is set to headline this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. The two-day festival is held on September 17 and 18 at the T-Mobile Arena, with J Cole, Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Lil Baby, and more on the performance lineup. Tickets are available here.
