Weezer have released a stunning version of the iconic Metallica track “Enter Sandman.” The cover is surprisingly true to the original and is set to appear on The Metallica Blacklist album.

The visual that accompanies the track takes viewers through a maze of eerie hallways, ghost-infested woods and whirling clouds. The blurring of scenes creates a unique, hypnotic viewing experience.

The Metallica Blacklist is scheduled for a Sept. 10 release via the band’s own label, Blackened Recordings. The record will feature a plethora of artists covering songs from their 1991 self-titled album, also known as The Black Album.

100% of the profits from The Metallica Blacklist will go to charity. Half will go to Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation, and the other half will go to a charity of each artist’s choosing.

Metallica also previously expressed their desire to see the album bridge genres, generations and geographical borders.

“With contributions from countries all over the globe,” Metallica say, “from the U.S. to Nigeria, there are tracks from singer-songwriters, country artists, electronic and hip-hop artists alongside punk rockers, indie darlings, icons of rock, metal, world music and many, many more, covering the entire spectrum from musicians we’ve shared the stage with to some who were not even born yet when the original album was released!

“In addition to raising money for charity, we wanted to show that Metallica’s music transcends genres, distance and cultures, and we like to think that—with everyone’s help—we’ve done just that,” Metallica continue. “It was important to us that the artists could choose whichever song they most connected to; it didn’t matter if we already had multiple versions of a song. If an artist wanted to cover that song, so be it. We were honored to have artists of this caliber want to be a part of the project, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed putting it all together!”

It’s already clear that there will be a wide range of artists featured on the album. Not only are Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, Mac DeMarco and country musician Jason Isbell all slated to be on the album, but legends such as Miley Cyrus and Elton John have already collaborated to release their take on “Nothing Else Matters.”

Cyrus created an all-star team for her reimagining of “Nothing Else Matters.” She recruited Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Metallica’s own bassist Robert Trujillo and Post Malone producer WATT. Yo-Yo Ma even joined in the star-studded arrangement. You can watch the visual for the track below.

Biffy Clyro also released their cover of “Holier Than Thou.”
