F*cked and Bound is Dead; Long Live Filth is Eternal

Fucked and Bound have changed their name to Filth is Eternal. Why? Vocalist Lisa Mungo (He Whose Ox is Gored) explains:

“I’ve always believed that a transformative moment would hit during the lifespan of this outfit, but relegated these notions to the future tense. However, our collective experience over the past twelve plus months made it clear that the moment was presenting itself now.”

Personally, I’m just glad that now I don’t have to remember to Google “fucked and bound band” and not just “fucked and bound,” lest I get results that have a lot of violent screaming but rarely any accompanying music.

Regardless of what they call themselves, the Seattle-based metallic hardcore band continues to kick all kinds of ass. Their first album since the name change, Love is a Lie, Filth is Eternal, comes out at the end of this month, and it’s every bit as viciously corrosive as their 2020 debut, Suffrage. There’s a little more variance in their sound this round out — given their new moniker, it feels wholly appropriate for them to venture into crust and sludge, and the old school hardcore/d-beat influence is even more pronounced — but it all feels like a very natural evolution, not a full reboot. A rose by any other name and all that.

Take, for example, “On the Rake,” which both the opening track and first single from Love is a Lie. This song is destined to inspire a million neck-breaking circle pits; it feels like someone is suffocating you with a garrote while someone else hits you in the ribs and stomach with a bat. This shit ain’t fuckin’ around, y’know?

I highly encourage you to check out “On the Rake” below. Love is a Lie, Filth is Eternal comes out August 27 via Quiet Panic (USA) and Church Road (UK/EU). Pre-order it here!!!
