Jam & Lewis have claimed their second top 10 single as lead artist on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay. “Somewhat Loved (There You Go Breakin’ Heart)” featuring Mariah Carey has moved up two slots to No. 10. The news comes hours after the slow-burning tune made similar headlines on R&B Radio.
In February, the celebrated duo achieved their first when their Babyface-featured single “He Don’t Know Nothin’ Bout It” resided in the top 10 before eventually placing inside the top five for many weeks.
Carey enjoys her first top 10 single on the Adult R&B Airplay chart since Caution’s single “With You” and her 15th overall. Her last appearance peaked at No. 3 in February 2019. The ballad marked her first top 10 entry since 2008’s “Touch My Body,” peaking at No. 7 in April 2018.
The songbird supreme has two number-one titles on this chart: “Fly Like a Bird” and “We Belong Together.” Both songs appear on her blockbuster 2005 comeback, The Emancipation of Mimi.
“Somewhat Loved” is lifted from Jam & Lewis’ star-studded debut album Jam & Lewis, Volume One. It includes guest appearances from Toni Braxton, Mary J. Blige, Charlie Wilson, Usher, Heather Headley, Boyz II Men, and more.
Jam & Lewis chatted with Rated R&B about making Usher’s 8701 album for its 20th anniversary earlier this month. In a separate interview, they discussed their journey to their debut album.
As for Carey, she’s toasting to her latest chart feat to some Black Irish, her new liqueur brand.
