Marvel has finally revealed the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, and you can almost hear the sound of fans’ heads simultaneously exploding across the world. After months and months of rumors and teases, our first look at the new film introduces what we’ve all been waiting for: a live-action Spider-Verse and the Sinister Six.
Yes, it’s all really happening.
The No Way Home trailer picks up where Far From Home left off, with the world learning that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is Spider-Man thanks to Mysterio’s dying actions. Desperate to return to “normal,” Parker turns to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to help reset everyone’s memory. But when Parker tries to tweak Strange’s spell mid-cast, he appears to break the timeline. With the multiverse already in disarray thanks to Loki and Parker literally trying to “live two different lives,” as Strange puts it, things are thrown into a chaotic collision of continuities.
In various teases, the preview seemingly confirms the return of Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Rhys Ifans’ Lizard from the Amazing Spider-Man films; plus Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and yes, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus from the Sam Raimi’s ’00s Spider-Man trilogy. Those who can count will note that’s one villain short of a Sinister Six, and who the surprise final member is remains a mystery (Paul Giamatti’s Rhino? Michael Keaton’s Vulture? Will Michael Mando finally get to become Scorpion?).

Also still unconfirmed is the return of the two previous live-action Spidey stars: Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. It’d be an unprecedented feat of Hollywood secret keeping if Marvel is able to keep appearances from those two completely under wraps before the film webs up theaters.
Regardless, the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is sure to solidify the fandom pandemonium surrounding the release of what could be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s final Spidey solo film. The movie is out December 17th, 2021, and you can watch the preview below.
