Video: Guns N’ Roses Concert Cut Short Due to Local Curfew

Guns N’ Roses set last night, September 4, at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival in the Bay Area, was cut short — in contrast to the band’s former reputation for extreme tardiness — due to a hard 10pm curfew enforced by local authorities.

In fan-filmed video footage of the set’s planned final song, “Paradise City,” the PA can be heard cutting out just after the three-minute mark, with remaining audio coming directly from the amplifiers and drums on stage. Fans helped Axl Rose finish singing the song, after which the vocalist frustratedly tossed his microphone into the crowd, bowed, and left the stage.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was on stage as a special guest for “Paradise City” with the band. The curfew was introduced in 2014 after complaints the previous year from residents who live adjacent to the festival. You can watch the footage below.

Guns N’ Roses debuted a new song called “Absurd,” formerly known as “Silkworms,” earlier on this tour.

The band’s classic, “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” recently surpassed the 1 billion Spotify streams milestone.
