Mahalia has linked up with AJ Tracey for her new song “Roadside,” produced by The Elements.
Aided by a colorful production of lithe horns and a strolling bassline, Mahalia sings about how she’s had the wool pulled over her eyes by a smooth operator. Left without an AAA card, she’s found left in her feelings after he’s broken her heart without a spare insight.
Speaking on “Roadside,” Mahalia shared, “I’ve kinda been excited about releasing this one since I started writing it. Fresh out of a breakup, I made this one with The Elements and two of my favorite girls and songwriters Abby (Absolutely) and Kamille. We had so much fun writing and making this together. Getting AJ on it was the cherry on top for me. I’ve wanted to work with him forever and I was so happy that it could be on this tune.”
Mahalia accompanied the new track with a video directed by Pip+Lib. Watch it below. “Roadside” follows singles “Whenever You’re Ready,” which is a certified jam, and “Jealous,” featuring Rico Nasty.
In 2020, Mahalia dropped Isolation Tapes, a compact tape of three songs released in quarantine. She remixed the EP’s song “BRB” featuring labelmate Pink Sweat$.
