Exodus Singer Loves Trump, Hates Vaccines

Exodus’ third-best singer, Steve “Zetro” Souza, has outed himself as an anti-vaxxer while once again voicing support for former president Donald Trump.

Souza first got The Don’s back in 2018. Now, in a new interview with the podcast Scars and Guitars, Souza doubles down on endorsing MAGAism, trotting out every tired argument in the Defend Trump 101 playbook:

“[Liberals] disliked [Trump as a] person. What other leader in the world in history, if you tweet, would come right back at you and go, ‘Hey, fuck you’? Because [Trump] wasn’t a politician. He was already a millionaire and a very famous man — more famous than any of the presidents. So what did he have to gain?”

Eisenhower and Reagan were probably just as famous, if not more famous, than Trump when they were elected. But there’s almost zero chance Souza knows who Eisenhower was, so we’ll let that one slide. I don’t know how Souza blanked on Reagan. That guy thought AIDS was a plague sent by God to kill homosexuals and thought Dr. Strangelove and Star Wars were real. I’d think he was Souza’s hero.

As for the “Trump had nothing to gain” argument, well, I guess Souza has us there, right?

ANYWAY, Souza continued:

“Gas has gone up a full dollar since he’s gone out of office. Wood prices, you used to pay 28 dollars for a sheet of plywood; it’s 94 dollars for a sheet of plywood. So you tell me — you tell me what’s going on. And I feel that nobody’s really doing anything right now. I have not seen our government do anything; they’re just sitting back like they always do and just cruise. I thought [former U.S. president Barack] Obama did the same thing. He just got in office and, ‘I’m the president.’ ‘What are you doing today?’ ‘I’m just being the president. If something comes up, I’ll get with it.’ But I don’t see him getting out there.

This argument amounts to “I didn’t touch a newspaper for eight years so I ain’t never heard of no Obama!”. But yeah, Trump was keeping busy, sure. From a CNN piece in May of 2020:

“Trump has spent much more time playing golf than Obama did through this point of the term — after repeatedly attacking Obama’s golfing and claiming he would not play if he got elected himself. Just Trump’s airplane trips to his Mar-a-Lago Club and residence in Florida, from which he has often taken a motorcade ride to a nearby golf course he owns, have required far more air travel than Obama’s once-a-year Hawaii vacations did through this point in the term.”

Okay, so what else does Souza have?

“Do you know, when I go to Australia or Mexico, I have to fucking get a visa to come into your countries. Why doesn’t anybody have to have a visa to come into my country?”

Once again, Souza makes a GREAT point. Nobody needs a visa to enter the United States.

Well. Except for Business travelers and tourists who wish to stay in the country for more than 90 days.

And airline crew members.

And maritime crew members.

And students.

Also, interns, exchange visitors, temporary workers, intra-company transfers, treaty traders, religious workers, performers and artists, representatives of foreign countries on official business, journalists and media representatives, people who have traveled to Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen on or after March 1, 2011, and dual citizens of any of those countries.

But other than…!

Souza wrapped up his scholarly lecture by whining about having to get vaccinated against COVID-19, which he claims is “no worse than the flu” despite the fact that he was on tour with a guy who went into a coma as a result of contracting the virus:

“They’re forcing you to get a vaccine. Do we live in a socialist society? What happened to ‘My body, my choice’? I don’t understand it. And it’s not about the vaccine not being effective or whatever; it’s about the choice that you’re telling me to. We’re playing a concert with Testament and Death Angel in Oakland, California [at the end of November]. You have to show proof of vaccination to even come in. I think that’s socialist right there. That’s bullshit. What about people that have AIDS? What if people have Hep C? How come they don’t have to show [any kind of proof]…? To me, it’s like anything else — why is this all of a sudden [something that] the government can mandate you?”

Well, Dr. Souza, lemme give you some good news — you can’t get AIDS or Hep C just from standing next to someone at an Exodus concert. That’s the difference.

Also, as we’ve had to point out before, that’s not really what people mean when they say “My body, my choice.”

Exodus have a new album coming out but I’m done pretending to give a fuck. They’ll be on tour with Testament and Death Angel next year but I think you should stay home. Y’know. In the name of freedom.
