Welp, this is rich: you can now watch beloved ’80s/’90s movie star and comedian Gilbert Gottfried say the word “Christfucker.” And it’s all thanks to death metal-noise-hardcore face-melters Portrayal of Guilt.
Someone in the band’s camp, or perhaps just a zealous supporter, saw fit to hire Gottfried on Cameo to record a plug for the band’s new album, which is called… Christfucker. In the 26-second clip, Gottfried carries on with glorified ad copy in his trademark strained voice and fully leans into the word “Christfucker,” enunciating every syllable with gusto. It’s brilliant.
At present time, Gottfried charges $175 for a video for personal use but $950 for a business or marketing plug. Did the band or label spring for the full $950? Hard to imagine Gottfried would even hit the record button if they didn’t, given the script.
But their bets appear to have paid off: as of press time, a tweet containing the video is up to 306 retweets, 28 quote tweets and nearly 1,500 likes in roughly 24 hours since being posted. And now here we are posting about it.
Have a watch below! And do as the man says: check out Christfucker on Bandcamp (physical product available), Spotify or Apple Music.
