Mr. Smithers will finally find love in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons.
Mr. Burns’ iconic personal assistant came out as gay during season 27 in the 2016 episode “The Burns Cage,” and this new episode will feature Smithers entering a new relationship – possibly at the expense of the entire town of Springfield.
Victor Garber will be voicing Smithers’ fashion tycoon boyfriend, Michael De Graaf.
The upcoming episode is titled “Portrait of A Lackey On Fire” and is written by father-son duo Rob and Johnny LaZebnik.
LaZebnik announced the episode on his Twitter account, including the caption “I can finally come out as a d’ohmosexual.”

The post also contained a cryptic hint about the implications of Smithers’ new relationship, suggesting that it might pose some kind of grave risk to the entire town.
Accompanying the tweet were photos of the script as well as the synopsis for the episode.
