Leon Bridges Releases Video for ‘Purple Snowflakes’

Leon Bridges has shared a video for his recent remake of Marvin Gaye’s “Purple Snowflakes,” streaming exclusively on Amazon Music.

In this performance-style video, directed by Dexter Brierly and Matt Seger, Bridges travels to Calabasas, California, and sports a cowboy look. He belts out this cover alongside a full band in a pasture area.

“Purple Snowflakes” arrived back in November. Bridges spoke to Rated R&B about reinventing the holiday gem, stating, “I hope I did it some justice. For me, Marvin Gaye, pretty much laid the blueprint of how I want my trajectory to go. He continued to evolve his sound, but still kept the essence of what was special about him.”

That same month he debuted “Summer Rain,” a bonus track from Gold-Diggers Sound featuring Jazmine Sullivan. He later received two 2022 Grammy nominations, including Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Born Again” with Robert Glasper and Best R&B Album for his most recent LP.

His consideration in the latter category added his name to the Grammy history books as the second male artist to have their first three proper albums nominated. He shares this feat with D’Angelo.
