Excellent: Mike Myers and Dana Carvey Are Pals Again

If there’s one metalhead duo more iconic than Axl Rosenberg and Vince Neilstein, it’s probably Wayne and Garth from Wayne’s World (also Beavis and Butt-Head). But while the couch-bound pals from SNL and Penelope Spheeris’ 1992 movie seemed all good onscreen, things behind the scenes weren’t quite as excellent, with comedians Mike Myers and Dana Carvey feuding over character direction and stolen jokes (apparently, Carvey later claimed that Myers’ Dr. Evil character from Austin Powers was lifted from his own impression of SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels). But now, according to Carvey, the two buried the hatchet while filming their ad from last year’s Super Bowl.

As reported by Loudwire, Carvey was a recent guest star on The Howard Stern Show, and was asked about his relationship with Myers. But Carvey said that though it was once rocky, things have gotten better with age.

“We’ve come full circle since I talked to you last [2019]. We’ve become very very close friends. The only good thing about getting old is you just, sort of get a little more wisdom, you get a little more perspective and you practice forgiveness for others and for yourself.

“We got closer during that whole process and started talking more. It’s very nice to have such a long friendship with someone, and everyone knows what we’re talking about…I just feel like I came to know him in a much better way as we’ve been really really talking these last couple years, and kind of put him in context — understand him.

“Everyone has a 10-year-old boy inside them, or girl. That little person gets very jealous of the shiny new toy, very envious. As friends in these last few years, you put down all your weapons and you’re just very vulnerable and very honest. It’s a great way to be with someone.”
