El DeBarge Performs for NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk (Home) Concert’ Series

El DeBarge teamed up with NPR for a special performance for its Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series in honor of Black History Month.

Stationed at his Yamaha DX7 with support from guitarist Bennett Walker, the legendary R&B act performed a 15-minute set that featured DeBarge’s classics, including “All This Love,” “Time Will Reveal” and “Love Me In A Special Way.”

He also reworked his group’s 1983 track “A Dream” to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“THANK YOU @nprmusic, #BobbyCarter and the whole #tinydeskconcert team for inviting me to contribute to this iconic series and being there for me throughout,” DeBarge wrote on Instagram.

“And a very special Thank you to all of my fans and everyone for watching and allowing me to come into your presence and share my gift of love through this very special Tiny Desk iconic series. You are all appreciated

Last month, DeBarge announced his plans to release his next studio album this spring. “It’s coming out for real, for real,” he assured.

DeBarge’s forthcoming sixth album will follow his 2010 LP, Second Chance. The album included features from  Faith Evans, 50 Cent and Fabolous.

As for production, DeBarge teamed with heavyweights such as Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, The Avila Brothers, Mike City and Ron Fair, to name a few.
