The Rings of Power is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. According to the description under the video, the television series will “take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.”
Actor Morfydd Clark plays a young Galadriel, who can be seen climbing a wall of ice in the trailer. Robert Aramayo also plays a young Elrond.
The eight-episode season debuts Sept. 2 on Amazon Prime Video. A second season has already been greenlit.
