The song, featured in the band’s upcoming horror-comedy film Studio 666, was written and recorded by Foo Fighters, but released under the moniker of the fictional band Dream Widow. The track comes from Dream Widow’s never-released self-titled album, according to the description of the video.
Studio 666 finds Foo Fighters as they move into a haunted house to record their 10th album. Dave Grohl eventually becomes possessed by one of the house’s former residents — a member of Dream Widow. “March of the Insane” is meant to be the band’s lost record, one they were making before their singer murdered them over creative differences.
