Further Joy is The Regrettes‘ third studio album. Vocalist Lydia Night described the meaning behind the name in a press release. “That phrase, ‘further joy,’ summarized what it meant to be on the hamster wheel of constantly chasing happiness, but in turn, that’s what makes you unhappy. I was stuck in a loop of wanting to be better, wanting to be good, and therefore I couldn’t be here. I couldn’t be present.”
In their January 2022 cover story for Alternative Press, the Regrettes previewed their new music to come. Lydia Night captured the challenges and the growth that accompanied making music during a pandemic.
“The majority of [our new music] was written on Zoom,” Night explains. “It was awesome. It was such a learning experience. I doubted myself as a songwriter and thought that there was no fucking way I was going to be able to write with strangers on a computer. It was amazing and really fun and a totally different technique.”
You can head to the band’s official store or your local independent record store to preorder a limited edition 140g pink vinyl. Standard black vinyl and CDs are also available.
