God Forbid Are Reuniting at This Year’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival

For many of us, God Forbid were the most exciting band of the late-’90s/early-2000s New Wave of American Heavy Metal. More anguished, complex, and full-on metal than some of their peers, the band were like no other, and continue to be the movement’s under-praised champions. Well, now it looks like fans will once more get to lose their shit to “Broken Promise,” as the band have just announced that they’ll be reuniting at this year’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival.

Via the band’s Instagram:

“It’s been 9 long years. You asked for this. We answered. God Forbid is BACK to devastate the stage at the 2022 Blue Ridge Rock Festival.

“GOD FORBID joins other previously announced Reunions at this year’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival, including Shadows Fall, Kittie, Fear Factory, The Union Underground, and a Rare Performance from Down. In total, 12 bands will be Reuniting at this year’s Festival, as a part of our massive 171 Artist Lineup.

Says guitarist and Bad Wolves member Doc Coyle via his Instagram:

“I wasn’t sure that this would ever happen but I can’t tell you how psyched I am to announce that God Forbid is reuniting to play this years @blueridgerockfest These are my brothers and I can’t wait to share this with the fans who’ve been waiting.

“Please follow the @godforbidofficial Instagram page and head over to Blue Ridge page to purchase tickets to the fest.”

This is obviously huge news for fans of the band, who have been asking about this reunion set for years now. One wonders if Shadows Fall’s recent successful reunion show inspired them; the two bands were always very much intwined, so one might have pushed forward the other.

In any event, more as we know it, but let us be one of the first to shout, SKY IS GRAY! WASHED OUT WOOOOOORLD…
