Could Hugh Grant be the 14th incarnation of the Doctor from Doctor Who? Plus, could the series be heading for a Marvel-esque revamp? It’s all possible, according to a television insider who spoke to The Mirror.

Jodie Whittaker, who plays the 13th Doctor in the series (and the first Doctor who’s a woman), announced she would retire from piloting the TARDIS in 2021. Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall also announced he would step down.
Russell T. Davies, who began working on Doctor Who in 2005, is set to take over the series once more for its 60th anniversary in 2023. The insider says Davies believes Grant could provide a “fresh feel” to the role, adding that conversations are in progress.
Additionally, the insider says, “the vision is that the show can be a Marvel-like product, building franchises around the Doctor and other key characters in his many lives.”
