Francesca Beghe – “Trust In Me”

Francesca Beghe returns with her own rendition of “Trust In Me” nearly 30 years after its release. “Trust In Me” was famously performed by Joe Cocker and Sass Jordan on the grammy award winning soundtrack for 1992’s, The Bodyguard. Beghe is a talented singer/songwriter who established herself in the clubs of New York City back in the 80’s. Beghe who cowrote the track, recorded an early version of “Trust In Me” that gained her a solo recording deal. “Trust In Me” was later performed by Joe Cocker, on his album Unchain My Heart. Kevin Costner picked it to be on The Bodyguard soundtrack, which went on to be the best-selling soundtrack of all time.

On March 4th, Beghe releases her live blues rock version of “Trust In Me” from her upcoming album, Francesca Beghe Live. After nearly a decade without performing live (and over 20 years since performing with a full band) Beghe returned to the stage in late 2019 and early 2020. Beghe’s performance of “Trust In Me” suggests she never stopped. The album features original songs by Beghe and cover songs of some of her favorite songs. “Trust In Me” is the lead single off of the new album, highlighting Beghe’s world class singing and astounding seven member band.

“Trust In Me” is a fusion of blues and rock-n-roll. Beghe’s performance is effortless, powerful, and joyous. Since “Trust In Me” was recorded live, all of the emotions and energy of the room are omnipresent. Beghe can belt like its nobody’s business which instantly elevates this track into a higher realm. A long buried version of “Trust In Me” earned Beghe a solo record deal and having co-wrote the track, fortifies Beghe’s understanding of the song. “Trust In Me” suits Beghe’s vocal range like a glove, giving listeners a feel-good song that makes you want to dance to.

With Francesca Beghe Live, Beghe wanted to give the world good music and that’s exactly what she’s done. “Trust In Me” will make you joyous and excited no matter where you are. The opening bars send you back in time but when Beghe starts to sing there is an inherent modernity that brings “Trust In Me” into the present day. It moves you to some setting of your creation and it keeps you there until the song is over. You know that you’re dealing with musicians to be reckoned with when you can’t tell the difference between the live version and the recorded version. The seven member band is so cohesive and crisp I forgot it was a live recording every time I listened to it, which was a lot. Beghe said that her band was performing as single entity as opposed to seven members, she was absolutely right.

“Trust In Me” is a classic song that is refreshed by its maker Francesca Beghe. You know you can’t go wrong with a song that is on the best-selling soundtrack of all time. Beghe puts her own spin on the track that makes it all her own. “Trust In Me” can only be an indication of how exciting and powerful Francesca Beghe Live is going to be. Make sure to fall in love with “Trust In Me” on March 4th, you won’t want to miss it!
