Zoë Kravitz Speaks Out Against Will Smith Over Oscars Slap

Zoë Kravitz is voicing her disapproval over Will Smith’s slap at the Oscars.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the Batman actress addressed the controversial incident with her captions to a pair of photos.

“here’s a picture of my dress at the show where we are apparently assaulting people on stage now,” Kravitz wrote on one pic of herself on the red carpet at Sunday’s awards.

Without mentioning Smith by name, she threw more shade in another caption of herself at the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party. “and here is a picture of my dress at the party after the award show -where we are apparently screaming profanities and assaulting people on stage now,” she added.

Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Academy Awards after the comedian made a G.I. Jane 2 joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who has suffered from hair loss caused by alopecia. Smith warned Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fu**in’ mouth!”

He later issued a formal apology to Rock. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally,” he said. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong.”

In the wake of the altercation, others have spoken out against the King Richard star including Stephen A. Smith and Jim Carrey, who said he was “sickened” to see Smith’s peers give him a standing ovation after he won the Best Actor Oscar.

“I would have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million because that video is going to be there forever. It’s going to be ubiquitous,” Carrey told Gayle King. “That insult is going to last a very long time.”

Smith did receive support from his son Jaden, Tiffany Haddish, DaBaby, and Nicki Minaj, who sympathized with the Smith family.

“You just got to witness in real time what happens in a man’s soul when he looks over to the woman he loves & sees her holding back tears from a ‘little joke’ at her expense,” wrote the “We Go Up” rapper. “This is what any & every real man feels in that instant. while y’all seeing the joke he’s seeing her pain.”
