Phabo Shares New Song ‘Before I Let Her Go’

After going pretty much off the grid following the release of his debut album Soulquarius, Phabo has returned with a new single called “Before I Let Her Go.”

The sleek, downtempo groove was written by Phabo and co-produced by the legendary Troy Taylor and Francesco Carlesi. Singing straight from the heart, Phabo croons about placing his player’s card in the hall of fame to ensure his love interest knows he’s serious about advancing to the next level.

“We should be vibing at home / So I can kiss you from head to toe / We never been here before / Playing Brandy, saying never say never / You should be putting it on / Want to be with you eternally,” he sings.

Phabo tells Rated R&B, “On ‘Before I Let Her Go’ [I] wanted to intentionally pay homage to the ’90s bad boy R&B era while still incorporating modern topics in todays world.”

He adds, “I also wanted to make women feel appreciated via music again. I linked with the legendary Troy Taylor in Atlanta who I deem to be one of the pioneers of R&B music, and we created a timeless vibe that the world will soon love.“

Phabo offered context around his new song with an official visualizer. Anaiya Kymahni stars as his leading lady.

“Before I Let Her Go” is the lead single from Phabo’s untitled sophomore album, slated for release sometime later this year.

As mentioned earlier, Phabo’s first album Soulquarius arrived last summer. The 16-track set boasted guest appearances from Alex Vaughn, Mntra, Rexx Life Raj, and Destin Conrad, who co-starred on the early single “Slippery.”

Following his guest spot (“4K”) on Duckwrth’s SG8* project, Phabo capped last year with a major accolade. Soulquarius placed No.17 on Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 list.

As the excitement surrounding Phabo’s return rages on, he will capitalize on it with a series of Soho House-powered performances across the nation this month. Get more detail about the shows here
