Lo-Pan Drummer Jesse Bartz Has Cancer, GoFundMe Launched for Medical Bills

Getting sick is expensive in America. Our healthcare system is inherently more fucked up than that of other countries, and as such, even insured people often need help paying hospital bills. Now, it appears that Jesse Bartz, drummer for Columbus stoner rock act Lo-Pan, has cancer. To help him with his medical bills, a GoFundMe has been launched in Jesse’s name.

Here’s the statement on the campaign’s page:

“Jesse Bartz is a strong, dynamic, loving family man. Whether you know him from playing music, or if he has had an impact on your life in the myriad ways he gives of himself to help his fellow man, this is our chance to give back.

“Jesse has recently been diagnosed with cancer and he will need to undergo treatment and potentially surgery to remedy the situation. I am putting this GoFundMe together to assist Jesse, his loving wife Abby, and their two beautiful children Brooke and Griffin with bills they are likely to face on the other side of this ordeal.

“Jesse is the most selfless person I know. Let’s get together and help our friends in their time of need.

“Jesse and Abby will receive 100% of the money raised.”

Lo-Pan also posted the photo below on Instagram, with the caption:

“Jesse is having surgery today. Please send good vibes to him and his family as they begin the journey to eradicate the beast. Thank you to everyone who has donated or sent kind words, it means the world to Jesse, his family, and us. Although we have surpassed the original goal on the gofundme page, please don’t let that stop you from donating if you can. Costs will stack up and he’s going to need the help. ❤️ LINK IN BIO”

Already, the campaign has broken its $15,000 goal, having received over $24,000. But that’ll barely scratch the surface for Jesse and his family, so if you can, please throw a couple of bucks their way.

Everyone at MetalSucks sends their heart out to Jesse and his family, friends, and bandmates.
