In case you forgot, brass-heavy rock band Brass Against were the subject of significant controversy last year when vocalist Sophia Urista urinated on a willing fans’ face midway through a festival performance. The band later apologized, as did Urista, but not before they were banned from all NASCAR venue and had a police report filed over it. Now, it appears that someone decided to have some fun with the band on their current European tour with Tool, as there was a ‘No Pee Zone’ sign taped to the stage on opening night.
Urista posted the picture below to her Twitter, which includes the following message:
NO PEE ZONE
No Urine Is to Be –
Deposited, Placed, Distributed, Sprinkled, Poured, and/or Spread
In This Immediate Area
The fact that Urista posted the photo online suggests that this is a good-natured joke between the band and their headliners, or the venue. We know Urista seemed genuinely remorseful for her actions, so if this felt mean-spirited, she might have responded a little more harshly, or not publicly at all.
You want our take? As this author wrote at his last gig, if someone peeing on a consenting fan is so repulsive to you that you demand an apology or would file a police report, get the fuck out of metal. Fuck off entirely. Metal has always been a transgressive outsider’s genre, and if urine is so disgusting to you that you’re clutching your pearls over it, then you don’t deserve this art.
