Jack Harlow’s new album Come Home the Kids Miss You dropped today featuring his long-awaited Drake collaboration.
Fresh off his album release, the Louisville rapper stopped by “The Breakfast Club,” where he opened up about his friendship with Champagne Papi.
He recalled meeting his “idol” for the first time at one of Drake’s parties in Atlanta in 2019. Drake came up to him and complimented his music, much to Jack’s surprise.
“He was walking across the party and he saw me and he came over to me, and at the time I was pretty wide-eyed, I didn’t have a big record out at all, but he was tapped in on me,” he said. “He was like, ‘You got some hard shit.’ It meant the world to me.”
Two years later, Drake was in the crowd when Jack performed in Drake’s hometown of Toronto. They even vacationed to Turks and Caicos together earlier this year. A now-viral video surfaced from their trip showing Harlow appearing to gaze into Drake’s phone before Drake looks up.
But Harlow has a different account of what happened. “I was looking into his earlobes, so I didn’t see his phone,” he said, while describing Drake’s earlobes as the “cleanest I’ve ever seen.”
After leaking last month, their collaboration “Churchill Downs” arrived on Jack’s new album Come Home the Kids Miss You. And while he can now call him a friend, Jack continues to be inspired by his idol.
“Drake’s verse was so hard, you walk out of there like, ‘Gotta keep sharpening,’” he said.
