DaniLeigh Addresses ‘Toxic’ Relationship with DaBaby on ‘Dead to Me’

DaniLeigh is opening up about her baby daddy drama.

Back in November, Dani and DaBaby were seen fighting on Instagram Live as Dani nursed their newborn baby girl. After their explosive argument, DaBaby called the police to have the mother of his child removed from his house, claiming he had been assaulted. Dani was charged with two counts of assault.

Six months later, the singer is breaking her silence about the headline-making fight and her relationship with the father of her 8-month-old daughter, Velour. On her new single “Dead to Me,” DaniLeigh addresses their estranged relationship.

“You know you’re dead to me / I ain’t got no more time for toxic energy,” she sings. “Mama never liked your ass, brother wanna fight your ass, daddy hate your trifling ass.”

She also claims that the “Rockstar” rapper cheated on her. “You fu**in’ all these hoes / Thinking I wouldn’t know / You played me like a fool, lil baby / Got a bitch thinkin’ I’m crazy,” she sings. “This pussy don’t belong to you no more.”

Dani also sat down with Angie Martinez, where she got candid about her “on and off” relationship with DaBaby, which began in September 2019.

“It was toxic. We had our really good times. We were in love,” she recalled. “He had his little mess-ups and stuff, so we’d break up for a month and then get back together… We broke up a lot.”

When asked about their fight, she said, “It was very selfish being that I just had our baby.”

DaBaby has not apologized to Dani. “He’s just like that though,” she said.

During the in-depth interview, she admitted that it’s been a “challenge” to maintain a relationship with DaBaby, but they remain co-parents of their daughter.

She’s moved on and grown from the situation. “I’ve just learned to love myself so much more,” she said. “Because I feel like I really did love him so much that I was just giving it all to him … I didn’t even focus on my career.”

“Dead to Me” is the first release from Dani’s upcoming 7-track EP My Side. “I feel like that project is closure for me to just move on for my next chapter in life and just focus on having fun and being a mom and living life in a positive light.”
