Rising singer Luh Kel has returned with a new song, “Be This Way.”
Across the two-minute song, Kel sings melodically about a current relationship going through strife and the ramifications of these romantic issues. Though the torment, some of which he started, he’s willing to put up a fight to save a potential future.
“Fighting for your love is better than fighting for nothing / I just need your love, I need to get feeling from something / Arguing all day and night / Keep my mind just running / Done with these assumptions / It shouldn’t have to be this way,” sings Kel.
With his upcoming album Turran expected sometime this year, Kel uses “Be This Way” as an entryway for what is in store for the next chapter of his artistry. The follow-up to the St. Louis native’s 2020 project, L.O.V.E., is named after his official first name.
Additionally, “Be This Way” is the first official solo release fans have gotten from Kel since “Baecation.”
Throughout last year, Kel appeared on songs by multiple artists, including YSN Fab and Eli Magic. In addition, a multitude of singles of his own came out as well, including “F Love” and “I Wish.”
As mentioned above, Kel dropped his second project, L.O.V.E., in 2020. The focus track, “Want You,” featuring Queen Naija, has surpassed eight million streams on Spotify.
Asked by Rated R&B about collaborating with Naija, Kel said, “I knew that song was an emotional song – it sounds like new school, but kind of old school – so I knew her voice was going to put a soulful feel to it. She’s cool. That’s my big sister. She has a great vibe and great energy, she’s cool to be around.”
Kel quickly turned the release into a deluxe edition, adding four new songs.
