As one of the world’s most popular rappers, Lil Baby uses his credibility and star power to endorse an R&B upstart destined for big things. R&B newcomer Chalynn has signed to the Grammy winner’s label, 4PF (Four Pockets Full), and is the first R&B act on the roster.
Following her signing, Chalynn has released her debut single, “What You Do.” On the dazed slow jam, produced by Alien, she sings about willingly conceding to a man who has a personal magnetism she can’t resist.
“You put me in a trance / You took over / Thinking ’bout things I can’t take back / Mind-blowing, how you do that,” she sings.
Of her new single, Chalynn says, “The vibe I’m going for is sassy, and a mid-tempo vibe for the girls. I wish to bring the 2000s-era R&B. It’s gonna fit the modern-day. It was so pure back then and slick. Nowadays, it’s so blunt.”
Chalynn accompanies “What You Do” with a sexy, black-and-white video where the focal point is simply her beauty.
With an untitled EP scheduled to drop later this summer, Chalynn’s “What You Do” is the alluring R&B bop to captivate listeners in the interim.
Speaking of the summer, Lil Baby will join Chris Brown for their One of Them Ones Tour. The 27-city tour kicks off on July 15 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Brown and Lil Baby will play in major cities, including Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., New York City, Toronto, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, before wrapping up on Aug. 27 in Las Vegas.
