The multi-talented Haitian-American musician JOSH X exclusively premieres the music video for his single “One Nightie” today on BET Soul and ThisIsRnB ahead of the single release on 5/27/22.
Raised in Queens, the singer, songwriter, and producer Josh X (born John Xantus) initially honed his musical chops as a classical pianist at the age of 6. When he finally began listening r&b, he was enchanted with the sounds of none other than Brian McKnight.
Studying at the prestigious The Juilliard School Summer Program and graduating from one of New York’s finest Five Towns College, Josh X delved deep into developing his music career.
Josh X has made major inroads in the industry working with top-tier artists such as Jadakiss, Swizz Beatz, Jerry “Wonder” Duplessis, and Bryan “Birdman” Williams from Cash Money Records, Rick Ross and writing for Cardi B and co-writing “Ready to Go” for FOX Tv Network hit show Empire. Even catching the ear of Stevie Wonder led to a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with the legend.
His new single “ONE NIGHTIE,” written by Josh X and Jordan “Unotime” Lindo, was inspired by the reflection of a man wanting to make his woman his wife and elevate things to the next level, but she is not trying to settle down and make him her king. All she wants is the “one-night” vibe, says Josh X.
“One Nightie” is definitely a song you can groove and chill to. His smooth vocals and island beat puts you in a laid-back Caribbean vibe. The lyrics tell of wanting to wife his woman, but she’s just not into it. In her case, a ‘one-night stand’ is more appealing than a fully committed relationship. I’m sure many women and men can relate to both sides of this romantic drama. The video does an excellent job of executing the concept of the song capturing the saga of a relationship. We are able to see a male’s vulnerability in wanting to give more in a relationship with a female who is reluctant to do so. The different angles and cuts of the video draw you in emotionally for X’s dilemma.
“One Nightie” is definitely a song we will have on repeat. Also, looking forward to hearing more from Josh X over the next few months as he plans to release new singles each month in anticipation of “Project X”, his new album.
