Jazmine Sullivan Picks New R&B Radio Single From ‘Heaux Tales’

Jazmine Sullivan enjoyed tremendous success on R&B radio last year with “Pick Up Your Feelings” from the Grammy-winning album Heaux Tales.

The accomplished diva may have a similar outcome on the airplay format, as the emotional “Hurt Me So Good” is the next focus track.

The second single from Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe, was named the most added song on R&B radio earlier this week when it posted 28 impact adds.

With almost one million audience impressions, “Hurt Me So Good” debuted at No. 27 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay in the June 4 issue.

“Pick Up Your Feelings” crested at first place on both R&B radio and Billboard in March 2021, marking the first time she led either list. The kiss-off anthem eventually won a Grammy for Best R&B Performance after spending more than a year in the top 10 after its peak.

As stated earlier, Sullivan reissued an expanded edition of Heaux Tales in February 2022. The new version included ten new songs and an appearance from the creator of HBO’s Insecure, Issa Rae.

The standard set topped Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2021 list. “With each project, Sullivan brings herself back to the fore, establishing new connections based on timely and unpleasant subjects she and so many people, particularly Black women, identify with and confront daily. Heaux Tales is no different, if not better,” wrote Rated R&B’s Antwane Folk of the project at year-end.

Sullivan accepted several accolades and honors throughout the Heaux Tales era, including the Best R&B Album trophy at the 2022 Grammys. In May, she was featured on TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2022 list

Additionally, Sullivan amassed a high number of RIAA certifications from other album cycles, including a platinum boost for 2008’s Fearless and a gold award for “Let It Burn” from 2015’s Reality Show, to name a few.

This month, Sullivan is booked and busy with live shows. On June 3, Sullivan will perform ahead of Mary J. Blige at the Florida Funk Fest. Then, the next day (June 4) in her hometown (Philadelphia), she’ll play Roots Picnic and again warm the stage for Blige.

On June 24, Sullivan is slated to be a special guest at Summer Walker’s self-curated A Hot Summer Night in LA concert.

In July, Sullivan will take the stage at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans, Louisiana. Later that month, she’ll travel to Chicago, Illinois to support her latest works at Lollapalooza 2022.

More new music is coming down the can for Sullivan. She contributed a “special song” for the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. The musical drama hits theaters on June 24.
