Teen Threatens to Kill Sheriff Over Young Thug’s Arrest

A teenager is behind bars after he allegedly threatened to kill a Georgia sheriff over the arrests of Young Thug and other members of YSL.

Quartavius Mender, 18, was taken into custody on May 26 for allegedly announcing plans to kill Sheriff Patrick Labat, his wife Jackie Labat, and Atlanta Public Schools Police Chief Ronald Applin on their respective Instagram pages unless the high-profile defendants were released from custody.

“#freethug or Imma sh00t u and your wife,” the teen wrote in one of the threatening messages, according to arrest warrants. He also commented, “Imma assassinate you.”

According to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, the teen also left death threats on the Georgia State Patrol’s recruiting page, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office account, and the Fulton Clerk of Court’s Instagram page.

“We take these kinds of brazen threats seriously,” Sheriff Labat said in a statement. “Social media cyberbullying, and hiding behind a keyboard will not protect someone from criminal prosecution. Our investigators are diligent in seeking individuals who mean to do harm to anybody, and I am grateful to them for ensuring the safety of myself, my wife, and all citizens of Fulton County.”

Mender was charged with 23 counts of terrorist threats, all felonies. He remains in custody at the Fulton County Jail without bond.

On Thursday, Thug was denied bond in a 56-count RICO indictment, which alleges that he is the leader of the alleged YSL gang and engaged in criminal activity since 2012.

The judge expressed concern that Thug is a danger to the community and could intimidate other witnesses if he was let out.

“The two things that the court has significant concerns about is him being a danger to the community and flight,” said Fulton County Superior Court judge Ural D. Glanville. “For those reasons in the aggregate, I’m going to deny bond at this time.”
