Jacob Banks Releases New Song ‘By Design (Evel Knievel)’

Jacob Banks has named a new lead single from his forthcoming album Lies About The War. “By Design (Evel Knievel)” overrides his previously first single, “Just When I Thought.”

Here, Banks’ hearty vocals give the song character, while its production choice draws memory of traditional soul. “‘By Design’ is about the novelty of youth, before we were altered,” explains Banks. “At our core, I truly believe we all just want to love and be loved. But even that is a luxury now.”

Already noted, “By Design [Evel Knievel]” is now driving the album cycle for Banks’ sophomore album, Lies About The War, out Aug. 26 via his imprint Nobody Records. His previous song, “Just When I Thought,” debuted in March, along with a supporting video.

Just weeks shy of its release, Banks unleashed a live performance of the song where he dons all-black against a golden-satin backdrop.

In early 2021, Banks released an EP titled For My Friends. The eight-song set featured several pre-EP singles, including Stranger,” “Devil That I Know,” and Parade.”

Banks will embark on a world tour supporting Lies About The War. The subsequent tour starts in North America on September 28 at The Fillmore in San Francisco. It concludes on October 31 at Varsity Theater in Minneapolis.

Then, he’ll play multiple shows in Europe from Nov. 6 through Nov. 29. Tickets are available on his official website
