Last night (July 1), Ms. Lauryn Hill reunited with Wyclef Jean at Essence Festival in New Orleans. Thirty minutes into his performance, Hill made a surprise appearance and the two performed four Fugees songs together: “Killing Me Softly,” “How Many Mics,” “Fu-Gee-La,” and “Ready or Not,” notes Stereogum. Check out a fan video of the former performance below.

Hill reunited with Fugees last September and the trio played an excellent concert in New York, but the rest of their planned reunion tour was ultimately canceled due to COVID-19. Rescheduled dates have not been announced.

Back in April, Hill released a statement in support of the California bill the FAIR Act, which would repeal an amendment to California’s “Seven-Year Statute” that makes it so record labels can sue artists for damages if they leave after seven years but before fulfilling the required number of albums outlined in their contract. “No institution should be allowed the opportunity to control the market by controlling the output of a creative being for some ridiculous, indefinite period of time,” she wrote.
