Earlier this week, blink-182 drummer Travis Barker was rushed to the hospital, soon after which his daughter Alabama posted a picture of him in a hospital bed and asked for fans’ prayers. Now, Travis has revealed that he was suffering from “severe life-threatening pancreatitis” in a statement to his fans and followers.
When the story first broke, many fans we worried about Travis in part because he’d tweeted the phrase, “God save me” shortly before news of his hospitalization had occurred. Others responded that this was the name of a Machine Gun Kelly song on which Barker worked, and was therefore probably more of a PR shout-out or reference than anything to be concerned about.
However, according to his Twitter, Travis had plenty to worry about, and had life-saving treatment for a severe medical condition:
“I went in for an endoscopy Monday feeling great. But After dinner, I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since.
“During the endoscopy, I had a very small polyp removed right in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists, which unfortunately damaged a critical pancreatic drainage tube. This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.
“I am so very very grateful that with intensive treatment I am currently much better.”
Cheers to Travis for getting the treatment he needed. We wish him a speedy recovery. You can check out his tweets below:
