Earlier this year, metalcore outliers God Forbid revealed that they would be reuniting for the 2022 Blue Ridge Rock Fest. When the word got out, people immediately wondered who would be replacing the band’s original second guitarist Dallas Coyle for the show. Now, guitarist Doc Coyle has revealed that guitarist Nick Hipa, formerly of disgraced metalcore act As I Lay Dying, will be taking up the ax for the band.
Here’s what Doc said via his Instagram:
“The cat is out of the bag. People have been asking relentlessly about would be playing 2nd guitar for the @godforbidofficial reunion. We’ve been keeping it under wraps but I am proud to announce our good friend @nickhipa ex-As I Lay Dying, as that guitar player. Nick is a ripping player and just great human being. This is going to be so badass. I can’t wait to jam this set in a couple months at @blueridgerockfest”
This makes a lot of sense, as God Forbid and Nick’s former band came up at the same time. Kudos to Nick, and good luck to the band!
Coyle revealed the reunion earlier this year, with the following statement:
“I wasn’t sure that this would ever happen but I can’t tell you how psyched I am to announce that God Forbid is reuniting to play this years @blueridgerockfest These are my brothers and I can’t wait to share this with the fans who’ve been waiting.
“Please follow the @godforbidofficial Instagram page and head over to Blue Ridge page to purchase tickets to the fest.”
